The good people over at Top 10 Films put together a little blog-a-thon this last weekend. Here is the premise:
“Top 10 Films has got its hands on a magic ticket that can transport you into any film you wish. Find out what happened when I, along with a few friends, went into the movies.”
So, with that in mind, here are the questions posed by Top 10 Films, and my answers to those questions. Enjoy, and feel free to add your answers in the comments section to any of the questions listed.

What character would I most like to be sat next to on a plane…
Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones. This would be in the hopes that we could actually strike up a conversation about any one of his many adventures. Especially when he is as passionate about the discussion as he is in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ while speaking about the Ark and the means to retrieve it. I want to hear more of those stories. The danger, the myths, the adventure, the near death experiences and the retrieval of the artifacts. I could listen to that for hours.

What character would I most want to enjoy a passionate romance with?
Ramona Flowers. Now by definition, “passionate romance” would most likely not include having to defeat Eight evil exes (yes Pilgrim would have to be defeated in order for this to play out). But, that’s the price you pay in a fictional space. What’s more romantic than killing off your girlfriends exes and collecting them as coins?

If I were a cop who would I want as my partner?
I would prefer to be a detective, as opposed to a cop on the beat. So I would choose Detective Lt. William Somerset from ‘Se7en’. He may not be a spring chicken, but he’s smart, intuitive and a great mentor.

What animated feature would I love to walk around in?
At first I thought it would be cool to walk around in ‘Toy Story’. But then I realized, as a human, none of the toys would be alive and interacting when I was around…so that’s no fun. And if I could enter as a toy, I think the novelty would wear off and I would just feel trapped and small. So, as much as I’m not a fan of the Shrek films, I would probably prefer to walk around in that world. You would get to see all of the storybook characters from books and movies, just a little more demented and skewed.

What adventure based on earth would I most like to go on?
‘The Goonies’, searching for One Eyed Willie’s treasure. I always loved Mikey’s passion for the folklore of the hidden treasure, and his desire to find those jewels and gold to save his town. I wanted to be a part of that group, to be a Goonie. To never say die, and walk away with a bag of rubies and cold coins. Let’s get that map and hit the road.

What adventure based in an otherworldly, fantasy-based location would I most like to go on?
Star Wars. Particularly as a spy at Jabba’s Palace during the attempt to free Han Solo from carbonite and fight on the Skiff near the Sarlaac Pit. Hopefully in that world I could be a Jedi. But, I would settle for a blaster wielding scoundrel who’s possibly playing both sides to see who will give the biggest reward.

What movie gadget would I love to try out (or steal)?
(I almost missed this one, and had to go back and post it…how could I miss THIS?!?) This is an easy one, and I’m sure plenty of other people would have this same choice. Doc Brown’s Delorean time machine…the one with Mr. Fusion of course. Doc is a nice enough guy and I think I could talk him into letting me take it for a spin. Oh, the places we would go.

What film’s plot would I alter and how would I do it?
It may sound strange, but I would have altered ‘Return of the Jedi’ to have Vader live at the end. I think it would have been interesting to see a fourth film (or even an expanded universe book) with Vader alive and training Luke. Is there good in him? You see, during Empire they gave you a small glimps at what Vader looked like from the back of his head. More importantly, they showed us the chamber he was using to try and heal himself, or even extend his life. Emperor/Darth/Sidious/Palpatine even gave some information to Anakin in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ about extending a persons life, especially your own. So, if Vader had been working on healing himself and extending his own life, then at the end of Jedi he would have lived after taking on all that Palpatine electricity. Because that’s what he would have been training for in the past twenty odd years. It all makes sense to me. And now Vader and Luke begin to train and unlock the abilities within Leia as well. Together they shall RULE THE GALAXY! Or something like that.

What one film would I most want to be transported into, simply to be a part of that world?
Harry Potter. To walk the streets of Diagon Alley and have a Butter Beer at the Hog’s Head in Hogsmeade. I want to see the magic, walk the halls of Hogwarts, and sit in the crowd during a Quidditch match. Of course I will be visiting after the death of Voldemort (oops, spoiler alert).
