I honestly have no idea what The Bourne Legacy was about. I am not sure if I needed to watch the first three Bourne movies starring Matt Damon, which I can say I have only seen the first one and that was years ago when it came out at the movies. For some reason I was excited to see this film. It looked interesting in the previews, I have a man-crush on Jeremy Renner, and Rachel Weisz is awesome, and from what I understood this was going to be a reboot (movie in another direction) of the original series. That so is not what this movie is.

If you don’t know the premise of the Bourne movies, I can’t bore you with the details because I don’t know. All I know is Jason Bourne (who is talked about a lot in this film and nobody knows where he is) has amnesia and he lives with some chick who runs a scooter store someplace. Yeah this movie isn’t that. Renner’s character, Aaron Cross, is one of several super soldiers (or ‘outcomes’ as they are referred as) who is after his meds. I swear it was like watching a movie about a whole bunch of tweakers asking about their blues and greens. He not only crosses a mountain, which evidently nobody does to get his meds, but oceans along with his doctor friend Marta (portray by Weisz). It amazes me how once again I was so fooled by the previews of a film. Here I thought I was going to go watch an espionage spy film, and yet am baffled that it was about getting doped up. Who woulda thunk it???

A co-worker told me that I need to read the books. If that was the case I’d never want to go see a movie again because for the most part they jack it up. This movie has no character development. Edward Norton who portrays some big shot guy seems to be perfecting the role of the “jerk.” I don’t even know who he was except that he wanted everyone dead for some reason. The rest of the cast is okay, however with no core character development it doesn’t really matter if the Olsen Twin’s acted out every role.

The pace of the movie is fine; however there are minimal action sequences throughout the film. Basically what you see in the trailer is what you get during the movie.

Yup, this isn’t one of my more lengthy reviews, but that’s because I really don’t have much to say. The Bourne Legacy wasn’t horrible (I am still not sure what legacy there is), it just left you wondering WTF!

A self-appointed non-conformist movie enthusiast, I enjoy everything from films depicting alien robots transforming into transportation devices(awesome), thrasher film victims running away from their walking attackers (comical) and overweight individuals over coming domestic violence (engaging). Growing up in the smog induced skies of Southern California, I am the lover of good, bad and horrible movies of all types. The quintessential movie fan whom happens to be (in whispered tones) gay, who would rather watch action movies then musicals (even though I like those sing-along films) any day. I have a deep care and understanding for people and am very knowledgeable about culture and society... with all my brains, compassion and academic know how, I can admit to my love of atrocious 80’s film (The Pirate Movie).

If the Olson Twins were in it I may actually be interested in seeing it.
